Feeding Hope: Magnus MacFarlane-Barrow Returns to Thomas More
Thomas More University’s Center for Faith, Mission and Catholic Education hosted the founder and CEO of Mary’s Meals, Magnus MacFarlane-Barrow, as he returned to campus on Thursday, Sept. 11.
The event, entitled “A Heart of Service: Simple Solutions to World Hunger,” featured MacFarlane-Barrow alongside Catholic musician and speaker Steve Angrisano for a moving presentation underscoring how community-led solutions can make a lasting impact. This was MacFarlane-Barrow’s second visit to campus, following his event, “Love Doesn’t Measure, It Just Gives,” in February of 2019.

MacFarlane-Barrow highlighted how grassroots support is helping fuel a major milestone for Mary’s Meals: as of September 2025, the nonprofit is feeding 3 million children every school day across 16 countries. A core takeaway from the event was an uplifting message about how small acts of love – by anyone – can create profound change.
Through Mary’s Meals, it costs just $25.20 to feed a child for an entire school year. Learn more about how to get involved at marysmeals.org.
