A group of students and faculty from the Department of Mathematics and Physics attended the Conference for Undergraduate Women in Physics at Auburn University on Friday, January 20 through Sunday, January 22, 2023. In addition to attending many sessions on research, career planning, and thriving in a male-dominated field, two students presented their research work during a poster session. Ash Coleman presented a study titled “DR Vul and LS III +62 12: An Observation and Analysis of Eclipsing Binary Systems,” while Lindsay Dawson presented work titled “Exoplanet Observations at The Thomas More Observatory.” The full group included first-year major Josephine Roach, juniors Ash Coleman and Lindsay Dawson, and faculty members Jyoti Saraswat, Ph.D., associate professor of mathematics and Wes Ryle, Ph.D., professor of physics.
