Preparing for a Total Lunar Eclipse

What:
A total eclipse of the moon will begin during the night of Monday, April 14th and proceed into the early morning hours. This lecture will discuss the cause of eclipses, along with everything you need to know for observing this eclipse from your own backyard. It’s been more than two years since a total lunar eclipse was visible from our location.  Keep your fingers crossed for clear skies on the night of the eclipse!

Join us afterward for an up-close look at the stars, Jupiter, and more with telescopes at The Bank of Kentucky Observatory (weather permitting).

This talk is intended for a general audience.  All ages are welcome.  The event is free and open to the public.  Thomas More College faculty and students will assist visitors in using the telescopes at the observatory.

8:00 PM – Introduction and Talk – Steigerwald Hall in the TMC Saints Center (formerly the student center)
9:00 PM – Telescope Viewing – The Bank of Kentucky Observatory (weather permitting)
